Dr. Afzal VP is a specialist in ENT Surgery at KIMST Hospital in Kannur, Kerala. He has been heading the Otorhinolaryngology department at this hospital since March 2013. His special interest areas include middle ear surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, thyroid surgery and sleep apnoea surgery.

Dr. Afzal is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of all routine Ear, Nose and Throat diseases. He performs all major and minor ENT surgical procedures including tonsillectomy, thyroidectomy, tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, stapedotomy, adenoidectomy, myringotomy, septoplasty, FESS, rhinoplasty, sleep endoscopy, microlaryngeal surgery, epistaxis control, nasal and laryngeal endoscopies, foreign body removal, etc. He is also proficient in adult and pediatric hearing screening and rehabilitation.

Dr. Afzal frequently conducts free medical camps for the underprivileged. He is a regular participant at national conferences and CMEs pertaining to his field of specialisation, and often speaks at regional medical association meetings.

Dr. Afzal VP underwent specialised training under Dr. Satish Jain, an eminent skull-base ENT surgeon at the well-known Jain ENT Hospital in Jaipur, for nearly two years (2010-12), with focused training in middle ear surgery, FESS and head & neck surgery. During his training Dr. Afzal was involved in over a thousand surgeries including tympanomastoidectomy, thyroidectomy, FESS, septoplasty, adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, etc. He also gained hands-on experience in the neuro-otology department, performing procedures for vertigo workup, hearing rehabilitation and cochlear implant workup.
